They were instructed to keep away from singing about Jesus. The way they respond will take you by surprise…

Indeed, the evening that Little Big Town was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, was one of the most amazing nights of their lives. A beautiful version of “Why Me Lord” was the product of a collaboration between Little Big Town and country singer Vince Gill, which was featured on the first program of the series. Goosebumps were experienced by a number of people, including the author, as a result of the performance, which left an indelible imprint.

In order to create a masterpiece, the foursome, which consisted of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet, collaborated with Vince Gill. Originally composed and recorded by country music superstar Kris Kristofferson in 1972, “Why Me Lord” has been covered by a great number of musicians throughout the course of its existence. On the other hand, the performance that is seen in the video is considered to be among the very finest.

Vince Gill was apparently notified about Opry regulations that ban musicians from performing songs about Jesus. This was presumably done in order to avoid possibly upsetting non-Christian audience members, as the narrative behind the video indicates. Even though this was the case, Vince made the decision to continue with the performance, and it seemed that the crowd enthusiastically accepted it.

For anyone who are interested in seeing this remarkable cooperation in its entirety, the video may be made accessible here. Please do not hesitate to share your ideas with us by posting a comment on Facebook and letting us know what you really think!
