That’s exactly what happened in a suburb of Austin, Texas, where one man’s decision to paint his house a bright Pepto-Bismol pink has caused quite a stir among local residents.
Most neighborhoods in the U.S. have a Homeowners Association (HOA) that helps maintain a consistent look and provides community amenities. However, Emilio Rodriguez, the resident in question, purposely chose a house in Pflugerville, Texas, without an HOA so he could fulfill his dream of painting everything pink. Little did he know that his bold choice would spark controversy among his neighbors.
“I love this house. I don’t know why people don’t like it,” Emilio shared with CBS17. He bought the house when it was beige, but his favorite color is now Pepto-Bismol pink, and he plans to paint even more of his home in this vibrant shade.
While Emilio’s neighbors are concerned that the pink house will lower property values in the area, Emilio, who uses a wheelchair due to a car accident and various health issues, finds happiness in the color. He believes that the pink house contributes to maintaining Austin’s quirky and unique vibe.
