My ten year old son Miles returned from the airplane restroom breathless during our trip from Providence to Charleston. We were taking a peaceful vacation after spending three years mourning my husband Grant Harper who was presumed lost at sea. Search crews had found his empty boat adrift after a storm and I became a widow without a goodbye. Miles leaned close and insisted his father was sitting in the front of the aircraft. Knowing I needed to face him I went to the hotel lounge the next evening and found him sitting alone after another argument.
