Relatives Plotted For Unpaid Holiday Babysitting So I Revoked Their Mortgage

Posted on August 31, 2026 By Andrew Wright

Austin grabbed the phone from Margaret, and his usual arrogance collapsed into frantic anger. He ordered me to book a flight back to Chicago to take his kids, complaining that my absence was ruining his expensive ski trip. I reminded my brother that his children were his own personal responsibility. I pointed out that for someone who bragged about being a wealthy executive, it was pathetic to expect his younger sister to act as his unpaid maid. Austin roared insults at me, threatening to cut me out of the family forever and warning me never to expect help from our parents again. I smiled at the Pacific sunset and told him his terms were perfectly acceptable. I then revealed that I had just instructed my bank to permanently cancel the four thousand dollar monthly mortgage assistance I had been quietly paying on our parents’ house for three years. I suggested that since he was the golden child, he could easily take over their massive payments starting in January.

A horrified gasp came through the receiver as Margaret snatched the phone back from Austin in a state of absolute terror. She sobbed uncontrollably, begging me to reconsider because Austin did not have the financial resources to cover the mortgage. She cried that the bank would issue a default notice within sixty days. I maintained a steady tone, explaining that this was not a misunderstanding but a complete lack of basic respect. I told her I was officially done carrying people who secretly despised me, ended the call, and permanently blocked their numbers. The fallout for my family was swift and devastating. Austin and Chloe were forced to cancel their Aspen getaway, losing thousands of dollars in nonrefundable flights while staying home with their children. By January, without my secret financial support, my parents’ true situation became impossible to hide. Robert and Margaret were forced to sell their estate under distressed conditions and relocate to a modest rental apartment while I finally enjoyed a life free from their toxic expectations.
