At the Blues Festival, a Woman Rocks the Crowd Like No Other Boogie Woogie

Posted on December 1, 2024 By Andrew Wright

There are so many amazing musicians and actors in the world. It’s really special when someone has both talents, but some lucky people get to have both skills. Isn’t that a bit envious? Let me tell you about Doña Oxford, who is an extraordinary person.

A video of Doña performing at the Riverfront Blues Festival in 2013 has racked up 12.8 million views on YouTube. In this video, she plays one of the coolest music styles, boogie-woogie. At the start, Doña asks the audience if she can play for them, and they excitedly cheer back with a big yes!

Doña steps up and challenges everyone as she gets ready to teach them about boogie-woogie. She’s truly amazing! Her keyboard skills are impressive, but that’s not the only thing that makes her special. The way she shows off her attitude and confidence makes it even more fun to watch. She grooves to the rhythm, bobs her head, and sways her hips to highlight the music. I really love watching this performance!

As the song goes on, she interacts with the crowd, having a great time. She even jokes that she could dance with one hand tied behind her back! The bass player laughs and pretends to leave the stage because she’s doing so well. Then, Doña makes it clear that you can’t have a boogie without a woogie, so she brings her right hand back into the mix. The tempo keeps getting faster, and her hands start to blur as the video continues. When she finishes her performance, the audience gives her a huge round of applause.
